When we last left off: The Detachment left Krakow at 0530 Wednesday 26 July 2000. They headed North with the goal of accomplishing the reconnaissance mission for the Armiya Krakow in 96 Hours. The immediate plan was to head to Miechow and leave the “Deuce” there and accomplish the mission with 2 HUMWVVs. At 0615 they arrived in Stomniki, South of Miechow. The town appeared abandoned and largely a ruin. However, a church spire was seen, and the decision was made to form a work party and dig a grave there for SSG Marsh.
While this was occurring at 0630 Jan, while exploring the remains of fighting in the town on the main road, depressed the trigger on a land mine. He was rescued by 2LT Duffy and PFC Ramirez by 0705. Continuing to explore the derelict vehicles and debris, at 0725 Jan discovered a color brochure from 1997 advertising a ČSD Class 477.0 Steam train in Prague and Two Liberation Class Steam trains, one in Raciborz and one in Jaworzyna Slask, Silesia, Poland: The company offered tours and was called FarRail Tours.
At 0728 SGT Swain reported the grave was finished. At 0729 SFC Diaz came on the net and reported vehicles at approximately 150 M distance approaching at speed from the SW. 0728Z WED 26 JUL 2000 END SESSION.
