Session 029, 15 JUN 2025

When we last left off:  At 0804 26 JUL 2000 the Detachment was in Słomniki. 2LT Twarowski had agreed to treat 2 wounded members of the marauder band.  They would be arriving in approximately an hour.  Based on overhearing discussions of the marauders Jan determined that their camp included non-combatant local zbeigni (refugees).  SGT Swain suggested that they proceed to bury SSG Marsh in the grave that had been dug already, and a simple service was held in the ruined church graveyard nearby.  The 8 marauders attended. At 0844 1SG Keller set up a simple security patrol of 4 junior enlisted and allowed the rest of the detachment to rest.  The band leader, Igorek, revealed that his men were mainly the remnants of a Red Army Engineering Battalion, almost all of Moldavian origin.  He informed Twarowski that the Oprichniki are on the move to Sandomierz, and looking to cut off Krakow’s access to trade routes to the north on the Wisla, for reasons he did not know.

At 0920 the marauders returned from their camp in the pickup truck they left in.  There were two wounded: a man with a poorly set broken arm and a woman with a swelling leg, evidently about to go septic due to a wound.  Twarowski prepared for surgery on the woman by having her begin to get really drunk while she dealt with the broken arm, having that man get drunk and then breaking and resetting it with the aid of SGT Swain.  This was completed by 0942 and the bed of the truck was crudely washed with alcohol and Twarowski proceeded to begin with the amputation of the woman’s leg.  It became quickly evident that woman, named Karla, was Igorek’s lover.

At 1001 the security patrol reported that vehicles were approaching the area, heading south on the main road.  The patrol returned and took cover in ad hoc positions out of sight but the vehicles; a 2P27 tank destroyer modified to mount a PKM and a reinforced GAZ 66 Gun truck mounting a PKM arrived.  Upon further observation they were identified as Armiya Krakow.  The marauders went into hiding at 2LT Duffy’s instructions and Jan walked out to greet the dismounting squad which was led by Sr. Sergeant Obara.  Jan informed Sr. Sergeant Obara that the party of American doing recon for Armiya Krakow has spotted some marauders and were dealing with them but lied and told him that they outnumbered the combined American and Armiya Krakow patrol. He urged Obara to depart north for the Armiya Krakow outpost in Miechow and he would have an exact location of their camp which the Armiya could target at their leisure.  Obara was pleased and departed at 1020.

At 1052 Twarowski finished the amputation and the marauders prepared to leave.  Jan asked Igorek where he wanted the Armiya Krakow misdirected and Igorek told Jan West of Djcow would be the best bad information to provide.  Igorek informed Twarowski that there is a large project that someone is working near Zyweic on Zar Mountain.  Many Robotniki are being recruited to work there and Zbeigi are being shipped there as slave labor.  The marauders departed to the East.  2LT Twarowski had an all-hands meeting where she explained the current plan and answered any questions form the entire Detachment. The Detachment then proceeded to mount up and travelled to Miechow.

Upon arrival at Miechow at 1212, Jan informed the Lieutenant in command of the Armiya Krakow of the false location of the marauder camp.  At 1300 2LT Duffy and SPC Jacques began using the SIGINT equipment to attempt to identify any signals.  Meanwhile 1SG Keller began to move fuel and supplies to the 2 HMMWVs to prepare them for a 1700 departure for the 6-man recon team.  Aside from rotating work parties aiding this effort, the detachment rested.  At 1515 a Signal was identified, triangulated, and Duffy ran off to get Twarowski as her Polish skills were needed. When translated and analyzed the signals indicated that a . Lublin Government Polish Army Long Range Patrol Unit identified at or near Wolbrom approximately 25 km E of Miechow. The Unit was surveying the location for its utility as a potential forward depot area.  Session End WED 1700 26 JUL 2000.
